About the Network
The Challenge
Oregon's children and youth are suffering the devastating physical, mental and social impacts of a health care crisis. We are witnessing lower school completion and graduation rates, increased health disparities, and the continuation of the cycle of poverty in generation after generation.
The Network's Answer
Our vision is that all children and youth are healthy, learning and thriving.
Our mission is to promote the health and academic success of children and youth.
Our purpose is to protect and expand the value of health services in schools and generate community commitment to sustain local success. We do this by building public policy support, engaging the community and strengthening these services:
- Policy Advocacy Leadership: influencing the legislative and strategic alliance levels to strengthen the reputation and importance of school health services, school-based health care, and comprehensive health insurance coverage for kids.
- Community Engagement: engaging stakeholders and communities to generate the awareness, demand, impact and overall value of school health services, SBHCs and comprehensive health insurance coverage.
- Coordinating and Strengthening Services: being the trusted authority on the best practices and implementation of preventive and primary health services in the school community, as well as on the SBHC business model; foster school communities to be a key source of health care information and services; leverage and monetize its expertise with consulting and contractual services engagements.
